Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) examine the level of student participation in group activities in the History subject among Grade 7 secondary school students during the 2024–2025 academic year; and (2) investigate students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of group-based teaching techniques in History for Grade 7 during the same academic year. A quantitative research approach was employed. The sample consisted of 17 Grade 7 students, selected as the study group. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that: (1) the overall level of student participation in group activities in the History subject was high, with a mean score of 3.48 and a standard deviation of 0.04; and (2) students’ learning outcomes after the use of group-based teaching techniques were also at a high level, with a mean score of 4.12 and a standard deviation of 0.04. These results indicate that the application of grouping techniques in History instruction effectively promotes student participation and enhances learning outcomes at the secondary school level.
