This research aims to 1) investigate the efficiency of a Lao language lesson plan on the types and functions of parts of speech using the STAD teaching technique based on the 80/80 criterion; 2) to examine the effectiveness of students’ learning outcomes in the Lao language regarding the types and functions of parts of speech through the STAD teaching technique; and 3) to explore the attitudes of 2nd-grade students toward learning Lao language parts of speech through the STAD teaching technique at Demonstration Secondary School, Louangnamtha Teacher Training College, during the 2021–2022 academic year. The experimental target group for this research consisted of 15 2nd-grade students, including 7 females, from Demonstration Secondary School. The research instruments included seven Lao language lesson plans, one set of student achievement tests, and one set of questionnaires to assess students’ attitudes. The research findings indicated that the efficiency of the Lao language lesson plan on parts of speech using the STAD teaching technique, measured as E1/E2, was 84.28/90.83, which exceeds the 80/80 criterion. The effectiveness index (EI) of students’ cognitive achievement in Lao language parts of speech through the STAD teaching technique was 0.841, equivalent to 84.1%. The 2nd-grade students’ attitudes toward learning Lao language parts of speech through the STAD teaching technique were at a very good level, with an average score of = 3.94 and a standard deviation (S.D.) of 0.57.
