Abstract

This study aimed (1) to determine the efficiency of teaching and learning outcomes in Geography, (2) to compare students’ learning achievement before and after instruction in Geography using cooperative learning activities combined with practice exercises, and (3) to examine students’ learning achievement toward Geography instruction using the cooperative learning approach with exercises. The sample group consisted of 20 Grade 11 students (M5), including 8 female students. The research instruments included five Geography lesson plans designed using cooperative learning combined with exercises, and pre-test and post-test achievement tests administered over five instructional sessions. The data were analyzed using percentages, mean, t-test, and standard deviation. The results indicated that the teaching and learning activities achieved an efficiency level of E1/E2 = 85.00/92.50, which met the standard criterion of 80/80. The comparison of students’ learning achievement showed that the pre-test mean score was 6.55 with a standard deviation of 1.60, while the post-test mean score increased to 9.25 with a standard deviation of 0.96. These findings demonstrate that students’ learning achievement improved after the implementation of cooperative learning activities combined with practice exercises in Geography instruction.
