Needs Assessment of Professional Learning Community in Secondary School at LuangPrabang City

This study investigates the necessity and implementation of establishing professional learning communities in secondary schools in Luang Prabang. The objectives of the study are: (1) to examine the existing challenges and the necessity of establishing professional learning communities, and (2) to compare these challenges and necessities across different secondary schools. The sample group consists of 187 secondary school teachers. The research instruments include a structured questionnaires assessing working conditions and the necessity of establishing professional learning communities in secondary schools in Luang Prabang. Data analysis employs fundamental statistical methods, including mean, standard deviation (S.D.), and the Priority Need Assessment Index (PNI). Additionally, one-way ANOVA is used to compare the state of the challenges and the necessity of establishing professional learning communities across different schools. The study found that the overall implementation of professional learning communities in secondary schools in Luang Prabang city is at a high level ( = 3.65; S.D = 0.45). The overall necessity for establishing professional learning communities in these schools is at the highest level ( = 4.50; S.D = 0.50) with a PNI value of 0.23. A comparison of the challenges and necessity for professional learning communities across different schools indicates no significant differences at a 0.05 significance level.
